This is a messy family minute with Mike and Alicia Hernon.
As we prepare for the holiday season, we need to remember the importance of hosting. All of us need community and having people in our home is a great way to make them feel loved and to experience a little bit of heaven – whether it is a huge party or just one other couple.
But so many of us have “hostess anxiety” and feel like our home, our cooking, or our kids aren’t good enough to be exposed to others. The reality is that we all need to practice hospitality because this is an important part of being a Christian. We need to remember that being a host is not about you – it’s about your guest. It’s possible that our hesitation to have people over our home is that we are focused on ourselves when we should be focused on giving to others.
Community is important! We need to be encouraged by other people and hear what God is doing in their lives. It is a great way for our kids to learn how to serve and be hospitable. Also getting together is simply a fun way to celebrate this holy season!
