Messy Family Minute #38: Anger

This is a Messy Family Minute with Mike and Alicia Hernon.

Toddlers & teenagers are great teachers! They will teach you just how patient you are. We used to think we were pretty great people until we started having all these kids! Children have a way of revealing our faults to us, and handling anger is one of the greatest challenges we parents have. But take heart! Children reveal our weaknesses so God can show us his mercy and give us the grace to change.

If you’re one of the many parents who struggle with yelling at your kids, first of all, know you’re not alone! Second, recognize the benefits of anger: it’s the right response to injustice and can compel us to act.

But…it can also reveal something hurt or broken in us. If your anger is out of proportion, or out of control, ask yourself where is it coming from? If you can find out, you can correct it. And through this process become the person God has called you to be.
